A Long-Term Client Collaboration Shaping a Thoughtful Home in Nosara.

Finca Chiquita is a house in Nosara built for a loyal client, a testament to a relationship that’s built on trust and familiarity. The design really started to take shape over the long haul of a collaborative process that kept the end user at the forefront – the family’s lifestyle, climate needs, and personal style – and allowed the house to really evolve in response.

A Classic Nosara Family Residence Designed for Everyday Living & Gathering.

This home is meant to be a timeless little gem of a place that feels quintessentially Nosara – three bedrooms, plenty of space to hang out, and a big outdoor living area that wraps around a pool. We’ve tried to balance comfort and functionality with a laid-back style that works for family life without feeling too flashy or over the top.

Expressive Structural Wood Ceilings Using Glulam Beams to Define Rhythm.

One of the things that really sets Finca Chiquita apart is this super impressive wood ceiling system made with big structural glulam beams. It kind of echoes a cassette tape pattern – those beams create a grid that lets in the light, adds some real depth and warmth to the space, and gives the place a lot of architectural character that’s really hard to ignore.

Honest Materials & a Climate-Friendly Design.

Using natural stone all through the place really helps this home feel rooted in it’s tropical surroundings & adds a level of depth & permanence. We’ve paired the uncomplicated architecture of the house with a pair of big sliding glass doors at both the front & back, so you get that perfect cross breeze and great opportunity to hang out inside & out – not that it has to be one or the other.

Mid-Century Modesty on the Inside & Outside.

The design in here takes its cues from mid-century modern style, keeping things simple with a focus on elegance, proportion and just generally keeping things from getting too fancy. All the interior elements are light, with a big kitchen island, some open shelving & super clean lines so it doesn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming. We wanted the materials & that fabulous natural light to be the real stars of the show.
