Elevated Tropical Retreat Above the Pacific.

Perched high above Costa Ballena in Uvita, Vista Celestial reimagines a boutique hotel immersed in rainforest and ocean views. The project focused on transforming the shared spaces into a calm, elegant retreat that feels deeply connected to its surroundings. Panoramic views toward the Pacific and the iconic Whale’s Tail informed a design language that is serene, open, and rooted in the landscape, creating a memorable arrival and a strong sense of place.

Design Clarity Within Realistic Constraints.

Working closely with the owners, we developed a clear design strategy that balanced ambition with budget awareness. Through careful material selection and smart design decisions, the renovation elevated the atmosphere without unnecessary complexity. Locally sourced and durable materials were prioritized to ensure long term value, ease of maintenance, and a refined yet honest expression of tropical hospitality.

Spaces That Enhance the Guest Experience.

The renewed lobby, restaurant, terrace, and pool areas were designed to encourage connection, relaxation, and flow. Interior and exterior spaces blend seamlessly, allowing light, air, and vegetation to shape the experience throughout the day. Each space invites guests to slow down, linger, and fully engage with the natural setting while enjoying a subtle sense of comfort and luxury.

Purposeful Hospitality Design.

Vista Celestial reflects Studio Octava’s approach to hospitality architecture in Costa Rica: thoughtful, restrained, and experience driven. From concept through execution, the project was guided with close involvement to ensure the design intent was carried through every detail. The result is a timeless, tranquil destination that strengthens the hotel’s identity and elevates the overall guest experience.
